Kitchen Design Trends: Stainless Steel Kitchens Are A Classic That Never Goes Out Of Style

Stainless steel has been popular in kitchen design for many years but it is certainly making a resurgence for 2022. It is a classic choice that always looks stylish and elegant. It is also a very practical material, which is why it is so popular. Stainless steel is easy to clean and maintain, and it doesn’t corrode or rust. This makes it the perfect material for kitchen appliances and accessories.

When it comes to kitchen design, it’s all about contrasting colours and materials. While you certainly can go full stainless steel (you can literally get metal floor tiles if you want) there is a risk that you give your home the clinical look of a commercial kitchen if you go overboard.

For us, if you have stainless steel appliances in your kitchen, it’s a good idea to choose cabinets and other accessories made from a different material. This will help to create visual interest and make your kitchen look more stylish.

The Furniture

We love this Concrete Grey cabinet set from Ellanoir Luxury as the perfect foil for an all-stainless steel appliance selection. Concrete grey is already very en vogue in kitchen design – but we feel that the matte/neutral tone contrasts beautifully with the bold stainless steel look. As well as being visually appealing, the cabinets are also durable and practical, with stacks of storage space for all your kitchen essentials.

We’ve opted for the Hanstrom Ume boiling water tap in gun metal grey which sits over an Aspen Grey Shimmer worktop from Burlington Granite. The slight sparkle in the worktop plays well with the stainless steel appliances, while the slightly dulled effect of the gun metal tap avoids everything becoming a little too brash.

The Appliances

We think the Beko LRSP3685X fridge from AO is a great choice for those who are looking for a stainless steel effect in the kitchen. This fridge has a 402 litre capacity, doesn’t require manual defrosting, and is also reversible, so it can be opened from either the left or right side.

We would pair this with the Belling Farmhouse 60DF Silver Dual Fuel Cooker with Double Oven from Marks Electrical. The clinical look of this oven is perfect for a stainless steel kitchen, and it comes with some useful features such as 4 electric hobs, 2 x ovens, and a grill. The ovens have an impressive combined 102 litres of space, so you can cook multiple dishes at once without any problems.

Above your oven, the SIA 90cm Stainless Steel Linear Touch Control Kitchen Cooker Hood Extractor Fan from Ship It Appliances is a great choice for those who are looking for a powerful and stylish extractor fan for their kitchen. This fan has a high extraction rate of 550 m3/hr, which means that it can keep your cooking area clean and fresh. The touch control glass front panel makes it easy to control the fan with the touch of a finger, and there are three power settings to choose from.

And of course, the stainless steel effect does not have to be limited to the fitted appliances. The electriQ Stainless Steel Microwave from Appliances Direct has a sleek and simple design that will look great in any kitchen. This microwave is easy to use with five simple buttons and a rotary dial, and it even has a dedicated button for heating your food in increments of 30 seconds. The microwave also has seven automatic programmes, so you can cook everything from fish to pizzas without any guesswork. It even can defrost by time or weight, so you can take your food straight out of the freezer and have it defrosted, ready to cook in minutes. The microwaves 20 litre capacity is great for average households and offers plenty of space to fit an average-size dinner plate.

One of the reasons we love the electriQ is the child safe functionality. Like every Hanstrom tap, serious thought has gone into protecting wandering hands from hurting themselves. Like Hanstrom, electriQ has fitted a child lock to prevent the microwave from being operated.

The Finish

We wanted to accent the kitchen with a splash of colour that complimented the tone of both the kitchen units and the stainless steel appliances. For us – a rich blue does this perfectly.

As we know our customers love to make use of their instant boiling water taps a set of canisters for their tea, coffee, and sugar made sense. This Lovello range from Wayfair has a retro-inspired design with a modern twist, and the matching bread bin is a great addition to the set. The set is made from high-quality materials and is easy to clean, making it a great choice for any kitchen.

As a final flourish – we love this Nordic Blue toaster from Currys. The nordic blue complements your breadbin, but of course we had to leave the last word to the stainless steel. Best of both worlds!
