General

Are boiling water taps eco-friendly?

Yes. Boiling water taps can be a more energy-efficient alternative to a traditional kettle. Because the boiler only heats the water you need, they can help reduce energy consumption and minimise water waste.

Unlike a kettle, which is often overfilled, a boiling water tap dispenses only the amount of water required. This helps avoid repeatedly heating excess water, making it a more efficient choice for everyday use.

Are boiling water taps better than kettles?

For many households, yes. Boiling water taps provide filtered boiling water instantly, so there's no waiting for a kettle to boil. They can also be more energy-efficient, as they only dispense the amount of water you need, helping to reduce both energy consumption and water waste.

Whether you're making a cup of tea, preparing coffee or cooking, a boiling water tap offers greater convenience while helping to lower everyday running costs.

How much electricity does a hot water tap use?

Boiling water taps are designed to be highly energy-efficient. A typical insulated boiler uses around 1 watt of standby power per hour, meaning it consumes very little energy when maintaining temperature.

On average, a boiling water tap costs around 3p per day to run, depending on usage and electricity tariffs. By comparison, boiling a traditional kettle costs around 2.5p per boil, making a boiling water tap a more economical choice for households that regularly use hot water throughout the day.

Hanström boiling water taps dispense water at temperatures between 75°C and 99°C, providing instant boiling water whenever you need it.

How many cups of tea or coffee will it make before reheating?

Our 2.4-litre boiler provides approximately 5–6 cups of boiling water before requiring a short reheat cycle, making it ideal for busy households and entertaining guests.

Once reheated, you'll have another supply of instant boiling water ready for everything from your morning coffee to a round of teas for friends and family.
